The Sharpx Needle Destruction Unit uses electric current from its onboard battery to destroy the syringe needle.
Waste collection is addressed in two parts: needle debris is captured in a removable receptacle, while vaporized gases are directed through a filtration system.
The unit is designed for use at the point of the procedure, patient-side, which reduces the risk of injury in the "hot zone" – the distance from the patient procedure to the sharps container.
